Mick Jagger and David Bowie dancing to the end theme of Bottom is as amazing as it sounds

Mick Jagger and David Bowie's 'Dancing in the Street' gets another excellent reworking.

David Bowie and Mick Jagger's cover of 'Dancing in the Street' is one of the most star-powered collaborations in rock 'n' roll history.

The pair were originally meant to perform it via linkup for Live Aid, with Bowie at Wembley Stadium and Jagger at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, but when they realised the satellite delay would make that impossible, they got in the studio instead.

They rushed it off in 13 hours along with a video that quickly became something of a camp cult classic thanks to both men very much being in the dad dancing phase of their careers at the time.

It worked – the song was a number one hit in the UK and reached number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, earning loads of money for Live Aid.

As the years have gone on, that video has only become more endearing, and it's also lent itself to some pretty wonderful mashups and mickey-takes from fans.

And now, CuriousBritishTelly on Twitter has gone somewhere truly original, putting the music from the end theme of sitcom Bottom under footage of the video, and it fits perfectly.

Adrian Edmondson and Rik Mayall's ultraviolent sitcom aired for three series from 1991 to 1995, as well as a clutch of live shows and the 1999 Guest House Paradiso spinoff movie.

Each episode of the show ended with that funky tune and silhouettes of Ade and Rik performing unspeakable violence to one another.

The pair previously led The Young Ones, which included a classic scene of Rik inappropriately quoting David Bowie's 'Ashes To Ashes' during a funeral and getting headbutted into an open grave for his troubles.

This new reworking of the 'Dancing in the Street' video is right up there with a more simple version that just stripped out the audio and somehow transformed the video into a silent comedy masterpiece.

Written by Marvin Gaye, William 'Mickey' Stevenson and Ivy Jo Hunter, 'Dancing in the Street' was first recorded by Martha and the Vandellas in 1964.

It was a massive hit, reaching number 4 in the UK singles charts and doing even better in the US, hitting number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming an instant Motown classic.
