Sir Elton says he couldn't see the stage at a production of The Devil Wears Prada.
Sir Elton John has been open about his vision problems in recent months following a serious eye infection.
And at the charity gala performance of The Devil Wear's Prada, the legendary singer-songwriter said that his eyesight is currently so bad that he couldn't even see the actors performing.
"I've lost my eyesight and cannot see the stage," Sir Elton was quoted by The Mirror as telling fans at the Dominion Theatre in London yesterday (December 1).
Ever professional, not only did he stay for the performance, but also stuck around to speak with the cast and crew of the adaptation of the 2006 movie, for which he wrote the music.
"As some of you may know I have had issues and now I have lost my sight," Elton said, "I haven't been able to see the performance but I have enjoyed it."
He added: "To my husband who’s been my rock because I haven’t been able to come to many of the previews.
"It's hard for me to see it but I love to hear it and it sounded good tonight... thank you for coming!"
While Elton retired from touring last year with a final show in Stockholm, he has repeatedly reassured fans that he intends to play live on occasion, and is still making music in the studio.

However, his eyesight issues have put his current album project on hold, as he has not been able to see at all out of his right for the past four months, while his left eye also has issues.
"I can do something like this but going into the studio and recording, I don't know, because I can't see a lyric for start," he told ABC's Good Morning America.
"It's never fortunate for anything like this to happen, and it kind of floored me.
"I can't see anything, I can't read anything, I can't watch anything."
Sir Elton added of his planned album: "It's been a while since I've done anything.. [it's] kind of stuck at the moment
"There's hope and encouragement that it will be okay... at the moment, that's really what we're concentrating on."
