ABBA's Voyage was one of the biggest music stories of the decade, and not just because it marked the long-teased return of one of the biggest bands in pop history.

More than just the new songs was the Voyage residency, which featured "ABBA-tars" in place of the four stars themselves. It kicked open the idea of other shows for artists that won't or can't tour.

While Voyage used motion capture technology to grab the movement of the still-alive and kicking Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, fans of artists who are no longer with us were excited by the potential, and right at the top of the list was Elvis Presley.

Early last year, British immersive entertainment company Layered Reality announced plans for an AI-powered Elvis Evolution show that would open in London.

Even if you ignoure the ubiquitous tribute acts, there have been several "live" Elvis shows in the decades since his death.

As well as live concert screenings, there have been gigs that feature Elvis's own vocals and image beamed up on to the big screen, while he's backed by a live band or orchestra.

Elvis Evolution is doing something more special than that.

It isn't the "ABBA-tars" of Voyage, though the makers of that show are in talks with the Presley estate about possibly making that happen one day.

Instead, the Elvis Evolution show uses a mix of "cutting-edge digital technology, live actors and musicians, mind-blowing multimedia and heart-pounding music".

The producers added: "We have accessed thousands of Elvis' personal photos and hours of the star's home-videos, using groundbreaking digital techniques to bring the musical icon to life.

"Elvis Evolution will use generative AI to deliver intimate moments, giving you exclusive glimpses behind the scenes, at never seen before moments in Elvis' history."
