John Lennon's two sons have long been rumoured to be at odds, but it simply isn't true.

As a member of The Beatles and beyond, John Lennon was one of the most famous musicians in history.

Lennon's family life got plenty of attention during his lifetime and since his passing, especially since his two sons – half-brothers Julian and Sean Ono Lennon – have had high profile musical careers of their own.

Julian was born in 1963 to mum Cynthia, while younger half-brother Sean was born to mum Yoko Ono in 1975.

John had divorced Cynthia in 1968 and married Yoko the following year, and the half-brothers didn't seem to have much interaction in their earliest years.

That's led to speculation that they don't get on, but not for the first time they've put such rumours to bed.

John Lennon fan account ceofjohnlennon posted a photo of Julian and Sean together at the 1986 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony where both had joined forces to celebrate the induction of Elvis Presley.

"Here, we do not accept comparisons and erroneous creations of fights about two people that john lennon loved the most: his children :)," read the post.

Sean expressed his support for the sentiment by reposting the image to his own Instagram Stories and overlayed it with the words "Peace and much, much love", the Daily Mail reports.

In September 2023, Julian revealed that he and Sean even planned to make some music together.

"We've talked about it. We have a plan at some point, when we both have the time to do it," he said.

"Yes, there's something we want to do together. We want to play around with an idea. I think it's a nice idea. I have to wait and see. I'm not winding you up, but it'll have its time and place."

Later that year, Julian added: "It's funny because there's always been, especially in the UK press, 'Lennon Sons Feuding,' this, that. We've never had a fight in our life. It's such bull."

More recently, while Julian acknowledged that – unlike Sean – he's not part of the "inner circle" when it comes to all things Beatles in the 21st century, he and his half-brother are very close.

"I'm thankful that Sean and I get on like a house on fire – we're best buddies," Julian said. "He tells me what he can, but things are pretty secret on the Beatles front."
