Wish you were here?
It'd no doubt be any avid Pink Floyd fan's dream to see David Gilmour in an up-close-and-personal environment.
Well, that's precisely what happened recently at a Brighton and Hove pub when the legendary guitarist showed up for an impromptu performance.
Gilmour's daughter Romany was performing as part of The Neptune's open mic night, before inviting a special guest up with her as her set came to a close.
Of course, her special guest was none other than her famous dad, David Gilmour, who agreed to perform a duet.
The pair then proceeded to play Pink Floyd's classic 'Wish You Were Here' from the psychedelic rock band's celebrated 1975 album of the same name.
The pub's punters looked absolutely stunned, with the unplanned acoustic performance being Gilmour's first in four years.
David Gilmour joins Romany and plays Wish you were here ❤️ !!! #DavidGilmour
Romany Gilmour has recently been thrust into the spotlight for the first time, having lent her vocals to her dad's new album.
Luck And Strange features the duet 'Between Two Points', a cover of British dreampop duo The Montgolfier Brothers that sees Romany sing and play the harp.
That night she had already played a short, alluring setlist of songs which included superb covers of Leonard Cohen's 'If It Will Be Your Will' and other numbers.
She also offered a glimpse of her own upcoming solo material, which currently has a working title of 'Lily Of The Roses'.
As she finished her set Romany looked into the bustling crowd and suspiciously exclaimed: "Oh my gosh, you're here. And you've brought your guitar."
At which point, David Gilmour waded through the pub to join his daughter on stage for a very special one-off performance of 'Wish You Were Here'.
"You're going to come and upstage me? OK, great," Romany laughed.
A little bit of back-and-forth banter between the two subsided before they opened up with the song's iconic intro on the acoustic guitar.
Gilmour is a local resident of Brighton and Hove, having lived there for over two decades as well as recording some of his new album in the city.
He's just finished rehearsals ahead of his upcoming run of concerts at London's historic Royal Albert Hall, before venturing to New York City and Los Angeles.
Whilst touring in support of his recent fifth studio solo album, he'll likely be performing the Pink Floyd tracks we all know and love. Let's wait and see.
