While Celtic didn't manage to book their place in the Champions League knockout phase, their 12 points and 21st place meant a juicy two-legged playoff against Bayern Munich.

The first match saw them lose 1-2, with the slim margin of defeat leaving the tie very much alive before the return fixture.

But after the game, much of the attention wasn't on Celtic's hopes of going through, or even the slack marking that let Harry Kane score Bayern's crucial second goal.

Instead it was all on the antics of Celtic superfan Rod Stewart, who gatecrashed the coverage on both CBS and TNT ahead of the match at Celtic Park.

He started off normally enough on CBS, talking about the football to Peter Schmeichel,, though he had to contend with host Jamie Carragher belting out his own rendition of 'Maggie May'

Things quickly descended and early on we had the sight of Sir Rod yelling at the fans to "SHUT UP!"

A few moments later Rod then admitted "I've had a couple".

As Peter and Jamie recalled their own past exploits in the bars of Dortmund, Rod told Carragher that he'd be more than welcome to join him in future rounds if Celtic overcome the odds and go through.

"Mate, course you can," said Sir Rod. "I'll fly you anywhere in the world you want to go. I've got my own plane.

"It's not going to be easy tonight, you've got to remember we have beaten Barcelona, AC Milan, Manchester United.

"If we get lucky and don't make any cock-ups in the first couple of minutes then we're in with a good chance. Did I say cock ups?"

He added: "This team has had a better run in the Champions League than any other team I can remember for quite some time. It's going to be special and... OI SHUT UP I'M TALKING..."

Over on TNT it was much the same, as Steart told a panel of Emma Dodds, Owen Hargreaves and Stilyan Petrov. "It's been wonderful. I've had a couple of drinks, as you can probably see - WAHEY!"

Never change, Rod.
