Julian Lennon hasn't just had to deal with endless comparisons with his dad John over the years, but also some unfair rumours about his relationship with his half-brother Sean.

While Julian had a strained relationship with his father, Sean Ono Lennon was very close to his dad before the ex-Beatle was murdered in 1980.

Their different upbringings and John leaving Julian's mum Cynthia for Sean's mum Yoko Ono has led to whispers to this day that the two men don't get on, but not for the first time Julian has now strongly rejected those suggestions.

"I'm thankful that Sean and I get on like a house on fire ā€“ we're best buddies," Julian told The Guardian.

However, while Sean is directly involved in recent Beatles releases, films and products, Julian isn't part of those discussions.

"He tells me what he can, but things are pretty secret on the Beatles front," Julian said.

"It's news to me half the time. Iā€™m not part of the inner circle ā€“ I never have been.

"You have to realise that when Dad left, when I was between three and five (it was a bit of a process), it was just mum and me, and we had nothing to do with the Beatles or Dad."

Julian added that it felt "extraordinarily strange" but added: "I'm not upset about it. I'd rather be excited and impressed by what they did and continue to do.

"As a fan, I'm just as curious as anybody else, although I do find myself going, how is it possible that there's another Beatles film?"

Julian, who released the album Jude in 2022, recently revealed that he had undergone emergency surgery after being diagnosed with skin cancer for the second time.
