It's been 60 years since Beatlemania.

And to mark the massive anniversary, Martin Scorsese is presenting a brand new documentary about the phenomenon.

Titled Beatles '64, the documentary is set for release on 29th November 2024 and will stream exclusively on Disney+.

Legendary director Scorsese will serve as producer, whilst David Tedeschi will direct.

As per the official description, the upcoming docu "captures the electrifying moment of The Beatles’ first visit to America" over sixty years ago.

"Featuring never-before-seen footage of the band and the legions of young fans who helped fuel their ascendance, the film gives a rare glimpse into when The Beatles became the most influential and beloved band of all time."

At the time of publishing, there is no trailer for Beatles '64.

Alongside Martin Scorsese, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Harrison's widow Olivia Harrison, John Lennon's son Sean Ono Lennon, Margaret Bodde, and Mikaela Beardsley will also produce the documentary.

Jonathan Clyde who was attached to Peter Jackson's 2021 documentary Get Back will also produce, whilst Jeff Jones and Rick Yorn serve as executive producers.

Beatles '64 includes rare footage filmed by documentarians Albert and David Maysles, restored in 4K by Park Road Post in New Zealand.

The Beatles' iconic live performances from the era will also feature, including their debut US concert at the Washington DC Coliseum, and their appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Additionally, there are completely new interviews with surviving members McCartney and Starr, who will describe first-hand how their lives were changed during the unprecedented period.

A synopsis of the documentary reads: "On 7 February 1964, The Beatles arrived in New York City to unprecedented excitement and hysteria."

"From the instant they landed at Kennedy Airport, met by thousands of fans, Beatlemania swept New York and the entire country."

"Their thrilling debut performance on The Ed Sullivan Show captivated more than 73 million viewers, the most watched television event of its time."

"Beatles ’64 presents the spectacle, but also reflects a more intimate behind-the-scenes story, capturing the camaraderie of John, Paul, George, and Ringo as they experienced unimaginable fame."

The Martin Scorsese-produced documentary is the latest in a long line of releases celebrating sixty years of Beatlemania.

Apple TV+ are releasing their own documentary on the phenomenon titled 1964, whilst The Beatles have re-issued their seven US albums in analogue cut for 180-gram audiophile vinyl from their original mono master tapes to coincide with the release of Beatles '64.
