Ringo Starr has unveiled his new single, a collaboration with country superstar Alison Krauss.

'Thankful' is the second release from Ringo's upcoming album Look Up, following on the release last month of 'Time On My Hands'.

"I love this track. I wrote it with my producer and engineer Bruce Sugar, and I feel we put an LA country sound to it," said The Beatles' drummer.

"For the lyrics, I always like to focus on the positive, and for this song in particular, about what we can be thankful for. I hope it brings you some joy and peace and love."

After a series of EPs, Look Up is Ringo's first studio album in six years.

Look Up will be released on January 10, 2025 features 11 original songs, nine of which have been written or co-written by T Bone Burnett.

Of the remaining tracks, one was written by Billy Swan and the closer – Ringo's 'Thankful' hookup with Krauss – was co-written by Starr himself with engineer Sugar.

Ringo said of the making of album: "I've always loved country music.

"And when I asked T Bone to write me a song, I didn't even think at the time that it would be a country song – but of course it was, and it was so beautiful.

"I had been making EPs at the time and so I thought we would do a country EP - but when he brought me nine songs I knew we had to make an album! And I am so glad we did.

"I want to thank, and send Peace & Love, to T Bone and all the great musicians who helped make this record. It was a joy making it and I hope it is a joy to listen to."

Announcing: Ringo Starr's new album LOOK UP

Ringo has long been known for his love of rockabilly and country.

Not only were some of his infrequent Beatles vocals covers of country songs like Buck Owens' 'Act Naturally' and Carl Perkins' 'Honey Don't', his second solo long-player Beaucoups of Blues was very much a country & western record.
