Fans were stunned in 2023 when Aerosmith prematurely retired from touring.

Just a few dates in, the band pulled the plug on Peace Out: The Farewell Tour after singer Steven Tyler severely damaged his vocal cords during their performance at Aerosmith at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York on September 9.

The tour was originally rescheduled but Tyler's voice failed to recover and the band permanently cancelled the live dates and quit touring with immediate effect.

Aerosmith hadn't ruled out the possibility of recording new music in the controlled environment of the studio, but it seemed unlikely that they would ever grace the stage again.

Now though, the band have unexpectedly announced a reunion show – with Tyler on vocals – that will happen soon.

Aerosmith will play Steven Tyler's own sixth annual Jam for Janie Grammy Awards Viewing Party on February 2 at the Hollywood Palladium, Billboard reports.

As well as his own band, the event will feature stars including Billy Idol, Joan Jett, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton and Linda Perry, and be hosted by Tiffany Haddish.

The Janie's Fund charity usually helps female survivors of abuse, and this year will also benefit the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and the Widows, Orphans, and Disabled Firefighter's Fund.

“What the Los Angeles community has endured with these wildfires is unthinkable," said Tyler.

"Music has healing powers and we hope to bring a moment of joy and levity to our first-responder firefighters and those most affected by the fires.

"The trauma experienced by the girls we work with is also unthinkable and we will continue to shed light and support the amazing work of Janie’s Fund."
