The rock and roll icon is expected to make a full recovery.

Jerry Lee Lewis has survived a minor stroke, his representative has said.

The 83-year-old is expected to make a full recovery, and is now recuperating in Memphis with his family by his bedside, after falling ill on Thursday (February 28), Zach Farnum said.

The rock and roll legend began his career in the 1950s, and is known for hits including 'Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On', and 'Great Balls Of Fire'.

Farnum said it was unlikely that Lewis's - known as 'The Killer' - upcoming performance at the New Orleans jazz and heritage festival in May would be cancelled.

“The Killer looks forward to getting back into the studio soon to record a gospel record and on the road performing live for his fans,” Farnum said.
