Lulu on her career, new tour and David Bowie
Lulu lets slip that her upcoming career-spanning tour will be her very last.
Lulu recently announced her massive Champagne for Lulu tour to mark both her 75th birthday and her 60 years in showbiz
The greatest hits jaunt promises to be something very special, taking in a homecoming show in Scotland and finishing up at the London Palladium.
Lulu has promised a mix of her biggest hits mixed in with her personal stories, as well as a swathe of special guests, but that's not the only reason why the show will be a must-see.
The singer has now also let slip that the tour will be her very last.
Lulu made the shock announcement nearly one hour into her chat with Gyles Brandreth on his Rosebud podcast.
"This is actually – I'm announcing it for the first time now – this is my farewell tour, with family, and friends," Lulu said.
"Because last year I did a tour that was kind of gruelling. It was successful, it went well, but you need an army to be a success in your career these days.
"And I felt unsupported. But then I turned 75, and I thought, 'You know what, I want to carry on working, but I want to do it a different way'."
Lulu added: "I've learned. And I've also become a slightly different person. I'm not afraid to be vulnerable."
She refused to confirm exactly which songs she'd be playing on her farewell jaunt, though did say that Eurovision winner and hit single 'Boom Bang-a-Bang' was a must.
Tickets for Lulu's last tour are on sale now.
