Phil Collins confirms this Genesis tour will be his last with the band

Phil Collins says that the 2021 Genesis reunion tour is "enough for me".

Phil Collins has confirmed that the current Genesis reunion tour will be his last ever with the band.

Collins recently reunited with Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford for The Last Domino? Tour of the UK, Europe and US, his first with Genesis since their 2007 Turn It On Again dates.

The shows feature Daryl Stuermer on guitars and bass and Collins's son Nic on drums, as Phil's health issues mean he is unable to get behind the kit.

"This English and American tour, that will be enough for me," Collins told Mojo (via Prog).

Asked if that meant he was effectively crossing out the question mark in the tour's name, he added: "Yes. The question mark was Tony Banks's idea."

Banks is apparently still up for playing further dates, saying: "I think it depends a little bit how it goes.

"How Phil stands up to it all. How the audience receive it, and how we all feel about it, really."

Earlier this month, Collins told BBC Breakfast that he isn't physically able to play drums at all anymore.

"I'm kind of physically challenged a bit, which is very frustrating, because I'd love to be playing up there with my son," he said.

"I'd love to, but I mean, I can barely hold a stick with this hand. So there are certain physical things which get in the way."

Asked at the time if the tour would be their last, Collins added: "We're all men of our age and I think to some extent, to some extent it is putting it to bed.

"Just generally for me. I don't know if I want to go out on the road any more."

Genesis formed in 1967 with the line up of Peter Gabriel, guitarist Anthony Phillips, bassist and guitarist Mike Rutherford, keyboardist Tony Banks and drummer Chris Stewart, before various lineup changes over the years.

Collins joined on drums in 1970 and took over on lead vocals in 1975 after Gabriel left the band to go solo. Steve Hackett played guitar from 1971 to 1977.

Genesis briefly replaced Collins with Stiltskin frontman Ray Wilson from 1996 to 1998.

Collins retired from music in 2011, but came out of retirement in 2016 with the release of his Not Dead Yet memoir, going on the Not Dead Yet tour the following year.

Genesis last week released the 2CD, 27-track compilation The Last Domino? – The Hits, covering tracks from 1973's Selling England by the Pound to 1991's We Can't Dance.
