Chester: Mercedes driver arrested after collision involving tractor that crashed into houses

A Mercedes driver has been arrested after a collision involving a tractor that crashed into two houses.

The Mercedes and the tractor collided on the A51 Vicars Cross Road in Chester, Cheshire, at around 6.35am on Tuesday, police said.

The tractor crashed into two semi-detached properties, causing extensive damage including the collapse of outside walls, but the occupants were not injured.

The driver of the Mercedes - a 52-year-old man from Boughton - has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and drug-driving, Cheshire Police said.

He has been released pending further inquiries.

The drivers of the two vehicles were taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital as a precaution but were later released.

Both vehicles have been recovered from the scene.

Cheshire Police has appealed for anyone with information or video footage to contact the force.
