Police have named a man found dead in a house in Ipswich as William McNicholl.
A murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of the 63-year-old's body at an address in Hawthorn Drive.
Suffolk Police said officers were called to the property shortly before 6pm on Wednesday.
Preliminary results from a Home Office post-mortem examination on Saturday indicated the cause of death was from "multiple injuries".
Mr McNicholl, known as Billy, was from Ipswich.
The force's major investigation team is leading the murder inquiry and an increased police presence in the area "will remain while inquiries continue".
Police have appealed for anybody with information or who saw any suspicious activity near the address between 24 December and 1 January to contact police.
