West Yorkshire Police officer charged with child sex offences

A police officer has been charged with historical child sex offences including raping a girl under 13.

PC Marcus Newbold, 29, faces charges relating to one alleged victim between 2007 and 2011.

He joined West Yorkshire Police in January 2021 and has been suspended since the complainant came forward in September 2022.

Newbold, who was based in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Friday.

The charges include raping a girl under 13, assault by penetration, four counts of assault by touching and two of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
